The Primary goal of the Reach Program is to provide players with supplemental opportunities to improve performance on (and off!) the field.  One area we feel is often overlooked is the fundamental need to properly fuel our body for optimal performance.  In many cases we find athletes who are not consuming enough food (fuel) to maintain sustained energy for a full game/training session.  To add to the confusion, it’s not necessarily what our athletes eat immediately before the game/training session - it's what they eat that morning, the day before, the week before.  Proper nutrition for serious athletes is how, what and when we eat EVERYDAY.

It an attempt to help parents and athletes understand how to properly fuel for optimal athletic performance, we have invited Coach Madeline De Angelo to help clear some of the confusion.

A long-time lover of Type 2 fun, Coach Madeline has been immersed in athletics since her youth. Growing up a very competitive swimmer, a mediocre volleyball player, and traditional rock climber, Coach Madeline later emphasized a focus in Yoga (200hr teacher training certified), and then CrossFit (Level 1 Certified, Adaptive Training Certified).  Through CrossFit Madeline explored the basics of running, gymnastics, weight training and NUTRITION.  Today Madeline is a full-time Professor of Movement, and she teaches her students that a deliberate and intentional strength training practice combined with proper fueling is the best thing you can do for your mind, body, and soul.
